Bracewell Hall For Sale in 1874

From a document produced to sell Bracewell Hall in 1874

"In 1874 the Bracewell Estate was owned by James Turner Hopwood who built the Scottish Baronial pile in 1869 to replace the ruins of the Tudor Hall. The cost of the rebuild was estimated to be over £50,000 at the time. I am not sure whether the hall was sold in 1874 as I have seen an 1875 sale document, exactly the same as this one but the lithograph and maps were coloured. I have information that the next owner of the hall was a Mr Riley of Richmond and that shortly afterwards it was used as a private school for boys for many years. This school was so successful that they had to move out to bigger premises."
